 This section presents the renders, highlighting the visual representations, creative details, and steps taken to bring the project’s vision to life. 

This independent project, developed for an ArchDaily competition with my chosen team, addresses the pressing need for resilient and affordable housing in Haiti. Haiti’s frequent severe weather and political instability have left many low-income individuals reliant on temporary, inadequate housing. Our design reimagines this reality by creating modular units that are affordable, durable, and culturally rooted, offering a sustainable solution for the people of Haiti.

The concept embraces Haiti’s vernacular construction techniques while integrating modern resilience, with three adaptable forms tailored to different needs:


  • The Protective Shell, a fully enclosed structure designed to endure Haiti’s extreme weather and provide secure shelter.
  • The Open-Air Hybrid, a design merging indoor and outdoor spaces to foster community and accommodate Haiti’s warm climate.
  • The Seamless Flow, a fully open unit that integrates indoor and outdoor spaces, ideal for leisure and social activities during calm weather.


These modular units are designed for easy manufacturing and shipping, ensuring efficiency and accessibility. This project envisions a future where housing is not only practical and resilient but also a reflection of Haiti’s culture and spirit.

The Protective Shell is a fully enclosed, durable structure built to withstand extreme weather, offering safe and secure shelter in any condition. 

Open-Air Hybrid

The Open-Air Hybrid blends indoor and outdoor spaces, providing partial shelter while fostering connection with the surrounding environment. 

Seamless Flow

The Seamless Flow fully integrates indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a unified, open environment for leisure and social interaction.
